CONFIRMATION PREPARATION (Grade 10 in the fall, Grade 9 in the spring)
Sundays, 11:15 AM until 1:15 PM
Confirmation preparation consists of 6 two-hour classes — 3 with the candidate's parents and 3 with the candidate's sponsor. These classes begin in the spring of 9th grade and continue through the fall of 10th grade at which time Confirmation usually takes place. Confirmation preparation is not meant to take the place of an entire year (or multiple years) of ordinary formation in the faith. Ideally, remote preparation for the sacrament has been occurring since baptism. The aim of Confirmation preparation is to help the candidate fulfill the personal expectations regarding the sacrament. Having presented themselves as baptized and at or above the age of reason, they must also be suitably instructed, properly disposed, and able to renew the baptismal promises. It is expected that individuals who are preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation are practicing the faith and obedient to the precepts of the Church.
