SUNDAY AFTERNOON CLASSES (Grade 9)
Sundays, 11:15 AM until 12:30 PM
Building a community where teens can talk about and explore their faith. We strive to go deeper in our faith to fully understand the God who made us. Through small groups, large groups, Eucharistic Adoration, Mass, prayer we give teens an opportunity to grow. We will be using Faith and Life as a base to build and grow our program.
CONFIRMATION PREPARATION (Grade 10 in the fall, Grade 9 in the spring)
Sundays, 11:15 AM until 1:15 PM
Confirmation preparation consists of 6 two-hour classes — 3 with the candidate's parents and 3 with the candidate's sponsor. These classes begin in the spring of 9th grade and continue through the fall of 10th grade at which time Confirmation usually takes place. Confirmation preparation is not meant to take the place of an entire year (or multiple years) of ordinary formation in the faith. Ideally, remote preparation for the sacrament has been occurring since baptism. The aim of Confirmation preparation is to help the candidate fulfill the personal expectations regarding the sacrament. Having presented themselves as baptized and at or above the age of reason, they must also be suitably instructed, properly disposed, and able to renew the baptismal promises. It is expected that individuals who are preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation are practicing the faith and obedient to the precepts of the Church.
HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY (Mandatory for Grade 9, but open to all high schoolers)
Sundays, 11:15 AM until 12:30 PM
Using the Venture series we will examine the mysteries of the Bible by showing the "big picture". This eight-lesson program will get teens to open their Bibles and learn the story of salvation history—from Genesis to Revelation—with a focus on God’s covenants and biblical characters. The hope is that once teens understand the Bible, their faith will become a relevant and indispensable part of their lives.
